Because it costs them an utter fortune. Some of these things are backdated to cost hundreds of millions of pounds.

Absolu8tely. But it dates back to the point where nobody would have considered comparing different jobs just because men and women tended to do A rather than B.

And councils have massive resistance to change.

Hopefully this kind of thing will get carried through and pay brackets will actually be equalised.

The Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled that the 300 men should have been offered the same back pay as the women.

By Eris! A possibly not crap rendition of Alice! That could bring the grand total to all of three including Jonathan Miler's and the disturbing one involving a lot of stop-frame animation of taxidermied animals. Sorry, I find it a little hard to focus on the other articles after seeing that.
