We hates the technology, we does

My dad emailed me a whole bunch of photos and videos from the Yorkshire trip.  For some reason, when Thunderbird copied them to a folder on my C drive, only half of them arrived intact, the rest strangely corrupted.

So I tried Koma-Mail, and Pegasus mail, with no luck.  Both of them, I have to say, are _terrible_ mail applications.

Until I remembered that I used to use The Bat! all the time.

And lo and behold it worked first time.

I'm almost tempted to move back to it.

Perhaps Thunderbird came with strings attached?

I occasionally get the same thing -- thunderbird has a fritz about a certain attachment, generally an image type, but not always, but it opens like a charm in Eudora.

In particular, PDFs made to the latest and greatest spec will only open for me in Eudora -- caused me no end of hassle when trying to lay out a con book that included an advert from the major sponsor in the latest and greatest PDF. I didn't notice the watermark in it until I accedentally opened it from Eudora. Weird.
