I'm against it

Now, I'm most definitely not anti-porn, but I'm somewhat aghast that someone is thinking of re-releasing Deep Throat.  There was a successful documentary on its making at Sundance this year, which revealed that Linda Lovelace was forced to make the movie at gun/knife-point by her pimp boyfriend.  Re-releasing the actual film therefore strikes me as the height of offensiveness.

I've seen the documentary you speak of, and nowhere in the film is it stated that Ms. Lovelace was 'forced' to participate in Deep Throat. I believe the "knifepoint" issue may have been a part of Linda & Trainor's private life. As far as I can tell, Linda recanted and renounced her porno career years later on the talk-show circuit, so it's tough to know if her admissions were entirely truthful or not.

Either way, Inside Deep Throat is a surprisingly entertaining doco. Check it out and see what you think.

I'm also against it. I read, in a very old copy of 'Spare Rib', an inteview with Linda in which she described the sickening way in which she was forced to act (knifepoint, beaten with lengths of hose, etc). Consenting adults yes. Torture no.
