(no subject)

There are only two people who can tell you the truth about yourself — an enemy who has lost his temper and a friend who loves you dearly.
—Antisthenes

I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just idiots. I've learned… that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change. I've learned that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

Do you mind if I borrow that 2nd quote to place in my LJ - it is just so applicable at the moment :)

Yeah, I like the way friends sometimes say something trivial, and unkowingly stick a knife in your heart. But better live/love/hurt then not to live at all.

Found this via [livejournal.com profile] nickys - I think I disagree with the second quote. I think friends change as you change, in general. Though I will concede that my long term friends are still here precisely because of the effect described in the second quote... :)
