I seem to've progressed through the last three in my life. I'm now on option five: "I might not fit in with the mainstream but I fit in with a good social support network."
I wasn't sure which to mark, because I sort of fit in with a bunch of people who don't otherwise fit in either. So I have a lot of good friends who are geeks, nerds, geniuses, artists, and activists, but I wouldn't say that I fit in with the culture at large.
Hmm, coincidence. Earlier today, before taking this quiz, I was thinking that I am still squarely outside average U.S. pop culture stuff, and I've been out here for DECADES. I didn't properly think about that when I chose the path all those years ago. It's been a very long time. Did I think about that when I started ..? Guess I didn't really care, but maybe (in the back of my mind) figured others would figure it out and join me.
Thing is, sometimes I do, sometimes I make an effort and do, and sometimes I delight in not doing. It all depends where.
In fandom, in gothdom, mileus I choose, I can and do, if it pleases me. In my time in the City, I chose not to, and revelled in it. It's all about where and when. It cannot apply in all contexts, unless you're so unvaried, so stereotyped, that it's horrendous to contemplate.
