Probably not. "One-way glass" isn't really one way at all (although you do get some that's partially silvered on one side). The way it works is that the side you don't want people to be able to see is kept significantly darker than the other, so that people in the bright half are mostly seeing reflections of their own side. Polarisation doesn't come into it.

You're likely right. I believe I'm confusing "glare" with true reflection. Having googled through hotbot.com a bit, I see nothing about polarized lens being used to see through "one-way" mirrors. Based on real-life experience, though... A 5yo can (and probably well) defeat the mirror by cupping his hands around his eyes and peering through into the suddenly brighter area beyond.

And that would be fairly un-nerving to a few sitters, I imagine.

Strangely enough, "two-way mirror", "one-way glass" and "one-way mirror" are all synonyms.

A restaurant in Norman, called City Bites, has bathrooms behind two-way mirrors.

DAMN weird.

You sit and pee and obsessively watch everyone in the restaurant to make sure they aren't looking at you.

There's a mens toilet in a club in Brisbane that has the one way mirror thing happening, right in front of you as you're peeing in the trough.

A few of us thought of going up to it from the outside and pretending we could see inside. Good stuff.

How do you come accross such articles, I have bookmarked his site as I can read German, as for the toilet I am not sure if the mirror works effectivly in the dark when the light is on in side...

According to this BBC article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/3257370.stm), there are specific hours when this toilet is usable. Maybe that's how they get around the issue you describe.
