I just added my details to the NHS Organ Donor Website.
I'd advise you to do the same, only you need no identification to do so and there's not even a password/user ID set up, so I can just do it for you.
(Yes, terrible computer systems annoy me)
My only hope is that they will now write to me to confirm that it was _me_ that wanted all my organs given away.

Well, it isn't up to you anyway, it's up to your next of kin.
All the register and donor cards do is give the NHS something they can show to your next of kin to indicate your wishes if they're wavering.

No, they won't, because I already did, and they didn't.
It is your next of kin who gets to decide: as it says on the organ donor cards you carry, make sure your relatives know your wishes. Basically I've just scattered the information that I would like my organs used usefully after I die round as many people and places as possible (including my sister, who's my nominated next of kin) so that should I get knocked down by a car, or drown when I go swimming, my relatives will make the right choice. Having yourself registered or carrying an organ donor card just means that your next-of-kin will know what you wanted.

Hey, what's more compassionate or conserving than giving away your organs?

I'm sure nobody'd want his liver though, or his cold greedy heart.
