FFS...

"Altman later testified that his diagnosis was driven in part by Petitt’s accomplishments. The books, the degrees, the piloting job, all while raising kids, it was “well beyond what any woman I’ve ever met could do” — and therefore suggestive that she was manic."

cus that is just SO scientific...

The list of things that get a woman labelled as having a mental illness just grow and grow don't they? "Being successful and accomplished" It's ludicrous.

The utter utter arrogance of the man!

(He specifically said "any woman", not "anyone")

It's SO gratifying to read that

"Meanwhile, Altman in 2020 forfeited his medical license rather than face charges over his conduct.

Earlier, after Altman’s diagnosis fell apart, Delta was forced to reinstate Petitt."

Hehe, this is what happens when you take on an accomplished, energetic and intelligent person who is in the right! Makes me happy.

One can read his abandonment of his medical licence as the coward's way out before he was sued to oblivion for malpractice, but one can at least be glad he can't fuck anyone else's life up as a result.

5. Thanks for linking this! Very validating to read, as someone who has never found a therapist who was a good fit. Also a good reminder that offering a safe, listening space is rare and useful.

Thanks for the good wishes! Not really looking for a therapist these days, but finding a good fit for any kind of care can be hard.

1) Add this to my discovery long ago of a local traffic report that suggested making all the traffic lights on one road turn red in the face of all the drivers to discourage them from using it as a through-passage.

2) I wouldn't want to go back to work for a company that hated me that much. I did decide not to challenge an unjust dismissal for that reason.

3) We deliberately simplified the rules of Monopoly. It was too much of a nuisance to play it according to the rules.

6) I've only heard of one of these, and I haven't actually read it.

Yes, I also thought "why go back to a company that was like that?" Sure, win the case, get them to take you back at top rate, compensate you etc... but be immediately looking for another job. Maybe other airlines would be wary of hiring her though, after such publicity. Maybe it's a small enough world. She would know, I guess.

I was thinking why go back to a company that’s disregarding safety warnings, when your job puts you 30,000 feet in the air?

Could be worse, you could end up flying Boeings?
