The joy of text
To encourage Sophia's reading and writing we set her up with a locked-down chat application (Kinzoo).
With the result that she just video-called me at the shops because I was "taking ages". And then sent me this.

Times have changed. At least sometimes in a good way.
I remember short weekly ship to shore calls with my dad when he was away offshore (for weeks and months sometimes). But they were very short.
"I love you" isn't a thing any of us ever say either. But maybe we would have texted it...

(How) do you ensure she doesn't use another app ?

The app requires unique numbers to add each other, and I get a notification if she does.
The phone has a kids account associated with it, and both Jane and I get emails when she installs anything.

Do you have a backup system in place so you can preserve all of these little gems, or is it manual?
