5. One thing not mentioned is that diamond is (theoretically) a better material for making computer chips than silicon. Like silicon, it can be an electrical insulator, conductor, or semiconductor depending on how doped. Because carbon forms crystalline patterns smaller than silicon, you can (theoretically) fit 2.3 times as many transistors onto the same size chip. Although you'd have to drop the operating voltage even lower for those transistors to be useable.

I think dropping the voltage for chips is the opposite of a problem: less energy use!

Agreed, but it does make the design more challenging.
