But why has the Overton window moved so far to the right?

Largely because people like Keir Starmer have been actively participating in closing the part of it to their left.

As for not voting with your conscience in case the Actual Tories get reelected... I'm not a huge believer in polls, but I can see how remote that possibility is after months and months of Labour being not just ahead, but *overwhelmingly* ahead.

Yes, Labour being dreadful over Corbyn and his supporters did indeed contribute significantly. But the current Tories are still much further Right than Starmer, even if Starmer is much further Right than many of us would like Labour to be.
