The Titan Submersible Disaster article on Wired is a fascinating article that emphasizes how vitally important safety measures are - and how they have been forged in blood. Just like more blood was shed when they were ignored in this case. Yikes!

And in this case, not even ignored for average workers - the owner seemed to have no interest in keeping himself alive!

I honestly think he never contemplated the idea that he could come to harm. Stockton Rush seems like the kind of narcissist who thought plot armor was protecting him & that he was the 'main character' in his game of life.

I'd rather assumed that real-time Settlers of Catan would take place over several months, with actions taking a historically-accurate amount of time for building roads, settlements etc. Maybe even the sort of game where you hand a good position over to your children to manage.
