Sophia can now draw things! Recognisable things! (She couldn't a few weeks ago. This stuff literally turns on with almost no prompting.)

It's fascinating, isn't it? I remember when Zoe discovered her toes and when she became ticklish.

Yeah, watching them learn about the world, and things sliding into place is just amazing to watch.

The learning speed is insane! Hunter this week has started making up songs, with proper little stories, it's amazing. The masterpiece so far has been "Ultan is annoying me" to the tune of the farmer wants a wife.

Ultan, in fairness, has just discovered he can climb into the kitchen tower, previously his sole domain, and I can see how that is genuinely annoying if you're not-quite-three.

Gideon definitely annoys Sophia. Mostly through grabbing one of her toys and then screaming if it's removed from his hands. We're working on that. Mostly through distraction at the moment.

In our house they both just want to be occupying the exact same space at all times. And anything Ultan has is Hunter's. Instant wailing all round. Although I have caught Ultan checking to see if anyone is likely to pick him up before he picks his pitch of outrage.

My mother assures me they grow out of it.

Oh yes. Once Gideon learns to speak they'll be able to negotiate. Noisily at first, but then it'll get easier and they'll work things out between them.

Gideon also looks about to see what kind of wail he should use.

Yeah, so far Hunter's main experience of negotiation is Small Friend arranging everyone to her satisfaction, as she has done since they were all eight months old in Baby Room (she is two foot nothing of sheer unstoppable determination, I thought mine were bad). It's going to be a terrible shock.
