I suspect that many if not most people have no idea of what goes into keeping an industrial society functioning at the basic physical level.

Oh yes. You see people talking about a self-sustaining society on Mars, and they clearly haven't thought about how many tens of millions of people you need in order to have a society that can, for instance, produce its own computer processors.

Everybody knows that science and fabrication are just a bunch of handwaving that occurs behind closed doors.

Nobody seems to connect the war with planting season and how impossible that's going to be with a war going on -- of course, the effect won't be felt until harvest, but before then, most of the rats will have been eaten.

We're stocking up on flour, rice, and oatmeal right now out of fear of the winter.

It is quite incredible how fragile the system is.

That's one of the reasons Brexit is such a disaster. We've upped the difficulty level on this.

Simple - just "disappear" all those records of torture and FSB data that might indicate any crimes against humanity, and look at all this disk space!
