There's a notion that mealtimes together is an important kind of social bonding behaviour in humans. If everyone is in their own little world, each watching something different - that might be less so. Whether that lack matters or not, I dunno. I guess maybe not so much, if there's plenty of other joint activities.

When they're older then we might do more chatty mealtimes. But right know we're all exhausted by the time we've got dinner on the table.
