Martin Amis on porn

2 year old Guardian article that Martin Amis wrote on the porn industry. I've gone steadily off of porn in recent times anyway, but even if I hadn't, this would certainly speed the process.

I think porn's motto should be "Don't think. You'll ruin it for yourself."

As an aside, that's pretty crazy you can read such stuff in the Guardian (I assume it wasn't online-only). The NY Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal would never grace their pages with a gem like: "What makes it in today's market place is reality. And assholes are reality. And pussies are bullshit."

The Guardian is the UK's left of centre broadsheet. It's the main read of the liberal intelligentsia. Good newspaper too.

And because we don't live in a repressed christian country (not for about 30 years now) we can get away with stuff like that.

It's kind of weird: the US has the First Amendment, so in theory they have complete freedom of the press. But in fact, they have a media strongly biased towards the right-wing, and deeply conservative standards about what can and can't be published.
