It's one of the items on my list of reasons against moving to France one day.

It's also bloody stupid. Check people aren't wearing trunks when they walk in the building. Check they're not dirty.

I've known that for years. Did I never mention that to you?

Though do you know who enforces that, and what happens if you don't do it? All I know is the bit about the letter, which I was told as a kid when my cousins got a dog, so I didn't get a proper explanation.

I have More Knowledge courtesy of a twitter thread I read which said it's not actually a *must* it's just that people look at you funny if you don't, and it's only for purebred dogs anyway.

(French person here). If you have a pass, nobody's checking on anything. You can pretty much come and go as you want. You overestimate the number of people we have to help you out or just do anything really in public places. :/ Also boxer shorts are allowed too. But still no swimming trunks. It's really stupid indeed. Who's making sure you've washed your swimming gear anyway?
