By any chance, is the appearance of this old(ish) blog post on your links page in any way related to the appearance of a claimed proof of P≠NP on the Hacker News top-ten list yesterday?
(Thanks for reposting it, also – point 10, with the analogy about ocean-crossing, is one of those things I should have long since written down in my handy file of things I keep wanting to quote at people, and now I have another chance not to forget to do so. :-)
