3-year-olds consuming alternative milks were 1.5 cm shorter on average

Children who can't drink cow's milk are more likely to have:

a) asthma;
b) food intolerances;
c) food allergies

I wonder if they've controlled for the height effects of a) through c)?

I saw one that claimed that walking briskly made you healthier, based on comparing records of a US rambling association with death records. Unsurprisingly the brisk walkers had lower death rates than the slow walkers but there was no discussion (in the reporting of the study) of whether this could be that people in worse health walk slower.

Loved the grammatical analysis of the manifesti. I shall send it to my brother the writing teacher and political junkie. The author says don't judge the parties by this really, but it's true that, for obscure local offices where information on the candidates is lacking, they run nonpartisan, and there are no contentious issues, I start by crossing out the ones whose ballot statements have bad grammar.

I've heard of people who can read mental states by looking at eyes, but I'm not sure I believe it.

I have seen it happen. I assumed that it was a cultural thing (the mother is Italian).

I still find it strange and amazing that Jerry Brown is once again the governor of California.
