Heh, when I go to the first link, the top link in its sidebar is to a different study saying "Antimicrobial in common toothpaste doesn't impact gut, oral microbiome" (https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/05/160518133812.htm)

The downsides of each that I can see are;

- The "Yes, it's dangerous" study was on zebrafish, not humans, and I can't see further detail on their methodology so I can't judge one way or another

- The "No, it's fine" study was on humans, with what to me seems to be a well-described method, examining over an eight month period (four months with, four without)... But it was only on 11 people. And, of course, there's no confirmation of how "healthy" their innards were pre-trial, so the result might just amount to "It doesn't mess things up any more than it's already been messed up"
