Great article about "free" games. I always say that Facebook games are like the new 'carnies' (the hucksters at carnivals that push you to spend money to win a stuffed animal, etc., if that's not a familiar term), and similarly there's a sucker born every minute.

Sometimes I think that there's a factory in China whose energy is powered by all the stupid Americans clicking their mouses over and over.

Can you explain how the constant hectoring to add your friends makes these games money? Is it just the pyramid aspect, that you get your friends involved, or does the app make money from having more users with the game installed?
