Just posted a poll about newspapers

It's over on LJ.

Oh, how I look forward to the day when I get more comments on DW than LJ, and can switch over.

Is there a noticeable drift in this direction?

Theoretically, you can run regular imports and bring all LJ comments over here-you could even try changing footer text or even turning comments off there for a bit (say you're getting too much spam there or something).

Sometimes, people just need a prod.

I always read your posts here, but then click through to LJ to see the comments -- and 90% of the time I end up commenting there because that's where the discussion is. If the discussion was here the discussion would be here, IYSWIM...

I get about 40% of my news from people linking to it, 20% each from TV, radio, and people talking to me.

My parents had newspaper subscriptions when I was a kid, but the few times I've bought a newspaper myself, I think it was for the Classifieds rather than for news. I mainly got my news from TV while growing up.

Nowadays, I donate money to a few TV stations and a certain news show, to support them, even though I don't watch them much anymore. If I regularly relied on other websites for my news, I'd be willing to donate or subscribe to them too.
