Yeah, it's amazing how good the correspondance is, that one worked in the specific characteristics it listed, but they didn't really match on the characters.

In fact, before you said that, I'd assumed the picture had been of Cersei: the "far away" doesn't apply, but the "using her children for political power" is far more accurate. After all, Dany starts over her head because she's a brutalised young teenager, but becomes experienced and competent as fast as she can, and cares about helping people more than power. Whereas Cersei probably had little choice but to seize power, but was too ambitious. And Palin seemed to have every opportunity to stay as governor, but closed her ears to any suggestion she was getting out of her depth and marched ahead as fast as possible.

Agreed!

Cersei is arguably a much better parallel for Palin. The biggest difference is that Palin has ridden much less on the positions of father/spouse/son.

It really is eerie how closely the fiction can be matched to the Game of POTUS.
