Let me pick your braaaaaains

All of the following is assuming a slow-zombie apocalypse that doesn't start terribly close to you. If it started too close you'd probably find out via the screaming. And if it's a fast-zombie apocalypse then survival probably isn't an option.

I generally hear news via Twitter. But it has to be more than just one tweet to take something extra-ordinary seriously.

Trending now #OMGZombies

Something Else Which I Will Explain In Comments. It took me a while to twig what it was and then suddenly the penny dropped (I tried to Google it on yesterday's poll and got the same as you).

Most of my news awareness comes from listening to Radio Scotland on the way to work. 20th century still rules!

"My technique for said apocalypse"

five options?
seriously?

i have an 11 page document describing in detail a three phase plan for escape and survival, i have supplies packed and equipment redy to enact escape at a moments notice.

to those who doubt the risk of the Z senario or flirt ith unprepairedness i say: if you havent taken similar precautions then you sir/madame, are being reckless with not only your own life, but the lives of those you shamble into during your un-life

cancel my subscription forthwith! this publication clearly is not taking the zomby threat seriously.

I'd either find out via Twitter or the radio - which I didn't see as an option!

[identity profile] seph-hazard.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'd probably find out via Radio 1 first. I have it on almost all the time in the living room. (If I happened to be in the kitchen I'd find out via Radio 4 which is always on in there, or if I was in my bedroom Radio 3 which is always on in there. But I'm usually in the living room.)

If I was watching the telly or a film instead (which does sometimes happen) I'd probably find out via Google Buzz. But I'm almost always signed into gchat too, so someone might grab me on there to tell me before I got as far as Buzz.

If I was out it would almost certainly be Buzz, assuming that this is far enough in the future that I've got my fucking phone fixed. It's currently utterly buggered.

Is it revealing that on a weekday, the overwhelming majority of people will find out by methods that suggest they aren't exactly working very hard...?

[identity profile] alitheapipkin.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I answered Twitter but actually that would assume things kicked off while I was on the internet during the day - otherwise it would be Radio 4 or TV news, depending on whether I heard first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

[identity profile] momentsmusicaux.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
If I'm at work, IRC, as I have it on all the time and periodically check for chatter.
If I'm not at work, perhaps Facebook. Or text, should one of you good people decide to loop me in. Or even Radio 4.

[identity profile] momentsmusicaux.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG you missed radio off the list!

[identity profile] daveon.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Although it's actually our, "in the event of Mount Rainier going phoom" protocol we have a plan for this, including supplies, friends with guns and a large drinking water supply...

They're also Doctor's who have an unfeasibly large amount of medical equipment in their basement and are only a couple of blocks away.

I really probably shouldn't think about this stuff.

[identity profile] daveon.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, we don't have the suggested Evac Bag prepped, but I will do that eventually. We have got several days of food, and about a week of canned/dried food, plus propane :)

But the main plan is to get the propane, the food, water and dogs and head to their place which is only a few blocks away.

Which reminds me. We do need to get a generator :)

i recently attended the Fringe show 'How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse', at which my team got the highest score of the shows history. They showed us previous scores, so I know this to be true

RAH

Like others, it'd be radio for me most likely. It's the news that's regular with the added bonus of no links. So over in a few minutes.

And there wasn't a 'go to work as usual' option in the second question, so fail all round with these polls.
