'The reason of technical downtime in blog hosting operation' of LiveJournal rather reinforces the impression that LJ is very much Russia-focused these days.
On the 'big-eyed northeners' thing, I note briefly: (a) wow, Dunbar (as in 's number) is not only still alive but still writing papers, and (b) the measurement of cranial capacity and its variation has not been without controversy in the past, and there are many of the same potential sources of problems here, (http://rsbl.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/early/2011/07/12/rsbl.2011.0570.full), including the source of the skulls measured, which date to the C19th, the small sample size (n=55 skulls in the final analysis) and the method - sealing up the skull and pouring small spheres in. In these days of MRI it's ... surprising. I'm not saying it's wrong - just that extreme caution needs to be taken.
