A Terrible Tale

In a blitz of ultra-efficientness Erin has slogged her way through several loads of washing over the last day or two and brough the pile down to a few items that need to be washed using methods so arcane that I swear the symbols on the washing machine move when you glance away.

This means that there are no dirty socks. You can of course, see the problem here - my sock drawer was never designed to take more than 3/4 of my socks, 1/4 being dirty at any one time. By cleaning all my socks at once (save for the pair on my feet) I've run out of sock-storage space!

What am I going to do now?!?!?!?

I wish I had such problems...

As for clothing that requires arcane washing methods, I just don't buy it -- I figure the pleasure of wearing such clothing cannot possibly be worth the torture and pain of washing by hand...

That's how I feel. All of my clothes are simple (except for the silk shirt and the dry-clean only suit I never wear).

I didn't realise that _anyone_ worse stuff that needed complex washing until Erin nearly killed me for knackering one of her tops...

I have considered returning the Simpson's ones. Next time he visits I'll give him the pick of the lot - I've no idea what his socks lok like.

I know exactly what you mean about socks, I have a similar situation, but I could easily remedy it if I were less lazy, at least 20% of those socks are single socks, since the washing machines I use seem to love to devour one sock in a pair (which I'm fairly certain is exactly what happens since once I pulled out 3/4 of a pair of socks).

As far as arcane washing instruction, that's what dry cleaners are for :)

A long time ago I was told the secret of how to get your missing socks back from the sock fairy...

You put your single sock back in to get washed.. and Lo and Behold! Both socks will be returned to you.

My solution to the sock problem is to just wear whatever two socks are nearest the top of the pile when I open the cupboard. I understand that theoretically socks come in pairs, but I've always thought of this as more of a guideline than a rule.

Throw out those that don't fit into the drawer. The holey old ones will do.

I need the data in my mission to convince Sean that more clothes/dishes just make for a bigger pile and if you have just enough the washing WILL get done cos it has to. (except he'd just go and buy mre, I know it)

I already did that, a while back. I'm now down to enough socks to last 3 weeks. Sometimes, this is just about enough :->

Anyway - I can't throw them out, I borrowed some of them from Saint 3 years ago and I don't know which ones!

As regards dishes - we have 5 plates. They get stuck in the dishwasher once a day and then nobody has to worry about them...
