"Hong Kong people using full English names get Google profile suspended for 'not using real name'" "Gay Couple Told to Move to Back of Bus"
We need some sort of standardised heuristic for noticing "Oh, hey, the last time someone did this it exploded into a massive clusterf*** maybe we should avoid it this time?"
This post seems not to have gotten crossposted to LJ. Perhaps LJ was down.
I didn't realize that Google+ requires real (or "common") names. That puts me off wanting to even try it out. Then again, I've often used pseudonyms on other sites that stated they required real names and personal information. So much so, that after signing up, I don't usually remember which ones do or don't require it. I've never had an account deleted because of it (nor even gotten any warnings), like has happened to the people on G+.
