The baby Voldemort was the thing that made me grumpiest about the film, among all the simplifications and changes. It didn't need to be explained - in the book it wasn't After some thought, I worked it out. In the film they just told the audience. The gits.

Quite apart from all but ignoring a large part of the motivation behind the events of series (i.e. the Deathly Hallows and their story) and changing a very good ending to the book. Hmph.
