Those who know what DW is and want a journal here will already have one.
Technically, it's pretty good. But the front page needs a major makeover, it not really suggesting what you're getting. "Share your writing, your artwork, or your innermost thoughts" kinda fails when you can't even store your artwork here. (Yet.) And they don't call it a social network on the front page, or describe what the reading page is, which is surely the core to it.
All of which I'm sure will come in due time, but it's sure taking a while...
Are you sure it's not just accounts you forgot you opened?
Google+ sounds like facebook but with slightly cutesy names for things.
On the other hand, if something that isn't facebook becomes popular, that'd be pretty neat. Facebook's "oh, that was private? Yeah, our bad. we uh totally meant to tell everyone it was becoming public *snigger*" is rather annoying me.
This is basically how they market new MMOs, against WoW.
If Google bought Flickr and had the option to pretty seamlessly integrate it into Google+ I'd suddenly be a lot more excited. I like Flickr. Regrettably, Google have Picasa already.
Pity that Facebook is the place with All The Photos and the absolute worse functionality.

I do like the idea that things I +1 will affect my search results and recommendations.

If it's private, I'd be tempted to use it.
