So, A Game of Thrones

Just finished the first episode, and Julie asked me "Why can't you be more like Jaime Lannister?"

I've not read the books, and I'm definitely going to be avoiding them until they finish the TV series. We both thoroughly enjoyed the first episode.

This is good to read, I've seen a few saying things like "I've no idea how a non fan would understand all this", and as I can't watch it (legitimately) yet...

We were planning on subbing the channel by now, but life got in the way of the finances :-(

Oh, you really really don't want to be more like Jaime. Really.

Ah, I thought it was, in which case, well, I'm guessing you have your methods, and they shall need investigating our end before the DVDs come out.

Hmmm, having read the books and not yet watched the 1st episode, that comment means something different to me than I suspect she intended!

Was my reaction as well. I really don't think she wants Andrew to be more like him.

It is hard not to answer that without spoilers. But knowing what that event was, well, for him, that was nice.

LOL. Not going to spoil anything for you, but that comment had me in stitches for reasons that will become very apparent if you read the book.

(Erin and I are expressing amusement and exasperation at the 'readers' who think for a second that that particular juicy spoiler wouldn't have made it into the very first episode, *grin*.)

Well, HBO is like two steps up from Starz (Showtime being in the middle).

Off to the side. In sepia tones.

It is the single MOST SIGNIFICANT event of the first chunk of book, and it conveniently comes after a bunch of character and setting establishment.

Yeah, NO KIDDING it ends the first episode. Absolutely!
