The kind of thing to leave you with when I go to bed

Harry Potter pole dancing

Not safe for...well, the kind of places that wouldn't appreciate Harry Potter pole dancing.

Julie's comment: "I can't believe they just have a pole set up in their flat. If we had a pole set up in our flat then I'd probably learn how to use it. Just out of boredom. No. That doesn't mean I want one."

I did a pole dancing course a few years back, it was great fun, although after the first lesson you discover muscles you never knew you had.
You can get 2 types of poles that you can actually use at home, one of which is weighted to the floor (but therefore not that stable), the other is attached to ceiling and floor so you can actually do proper moves on it. No, I haven't looked into this much at all for where I currently live, honest :P
