I wonder if I'll like this more as TV than I did in book form
(I tried the book, got about 50 pages in, and decided that there were going to be an awful lot of unpleasant people, connected in complicated ways, doing morally dubious things, and my brain wasn't going to be able to hold it all together well enough to actually enjoy it.)

as someone with a visual prone memory i find this helps me follow complicated stories better.

And Andrew's right, it's an HBO series, so they're trying to make it really good, and on past record there's a good chance they'll succeed.

In retrospect, I may partly fall for the fallacy of confusing "interesting character" with "non-evil character". But OTOH, when I say "unpleasant character" I normally don't just mean a character who is not nice, but one who is unremittinglyly awful in almost every respect
