TBH, I'd thought this connection was fairly obvious. Maybe it was just me making the link subconsciously, but I'm fairly sure (although I'd have to go back and watch it again) there was a moment where one theme immediately followed the other and it's plain the two are the same, just at different tempos.

I think it's the same chord change appearing in the film score version that gave it away to me (although that change is not in the brief clip at the start of the vid above).
