I thought it was very good but wouldn't necessarily watch it over and over again. So possibly not one to buy on DVD unless you have a penchant for bleak scandinavian film?
I'm not sure either. I guess the people that would watch the original have done so, so any extra people that go to see this version is extra. Can't really complain about that.
I guess also if you want the atmosphere and the story without having to read subtitles? Which is lazy, sure, but I know that while I avoid dubs like the plague I'm not always in the mood to watch a subtitled film?
