Useful tool for searching your own LJ

I got friended by someone on Twitter this morning, and couldn't see any obvious linkage between us. I knew there was a tool for finding people in common between two twitter accounts, and that I originally found out about it on a post in my LJ, but I was darned if I could remember where it was.

So I grabbed my copy of LJArchive, updated my archive to include the last few weeks of LJ post and comments, and then typed "Twitter" into the search box. I instantly had a list of all the posts which either had that word in them directly, or had them in the comments. And one of them, indeed, had a link to the site I wanted (here).

Or you could just import to Dreamwidth and search there... ;-)

Hmm. Just went to do that, and discovered that because I have 130 icons on LJ, but only an allowance for 100 on DW, only my default icon will be imported.

Need to work out what to do about that.

That's weird. I was pretty sure the icon bug had been fixed, you should be able to import all of them and have some tagged inactive.

Or something, like it'll import your most used 100. They're definitely still working on improving the importer, and icons are a bit problematic. You can always import just entries, then just import icons later.

I finally got around to sorting my icons out recently, now I just need to remember not to post posts with icons I don't have on LJ, then it all works fine.

You can't just delete down to 100, import, and then reupload?

And lose track of which ones I've done that with?

I'm off to file a support request with DW to see if there's a better way to deal with it.

You have an interesting angle on what's simple and what's complicated, *grin*.

I have to go through my icons, choose a bunch I don't like as much, save them off somewhere one by one, do the import, and then upload them again one by one?

That sounds like even less fun than doing the washing up. The reason I use computers is to _avoid_ repetitive tasks.

Heck, at work I frequently get assigned repetitive tasks because my boss knows that I'll have automated them by the end of the day.
