What happened to the Lib Dem vote: the Lib Dem vote share went *up* (compared to last general election), but not by as much as expected by pretty much anyone. The number of *seats* went down, but that's the quirks of our much beloved FPTP system &c. &c.
Lib Dem votes went up by about 900,000, significantly more than 10%. (Labour votes declined by 900,000, a little less than 10%; Tories were up by 2 million, or getting on for 25%!)
The increased turnout, and the fact that Lib Dems are starting from a low base compared to the other two large parties, kept the share of vote low despite that dramatic increase in total votes.
This is why uniform swing is an appallingly bad way of visualising voting patterns.
I think the correct measure is vote share, not vote number, since turnout didn't stay constant. We can have a good argument as to whether percentage change in base vote or absolute point change is the right measure. The thing is, by any measure people haven't been deserting the Lib Dems compared to last time, but not all the voters have been living in the right places for their votes to count.

"Livejournal staff apparently looking at flocked posts if they feel like it."
That part I don't have a problem with... that's the case for just about any online service. Admin privileges will let you see everything on the site; they have to if the admin is going to be able to do his/her/its job properly. Seriously, folks, don't put anything in a Friends-locked post that must absolutely be kept confidential... and not just because of this, but because all it takes is one moment of forgetfulness on the "lock" button or one indiscreet Friend to blow the doors off. If it's too hot to get out widely, I suggest not sharing it online (anywhere, not just LJ) but rather putting it down in a truly private journal/diary on your own computer. (Or doing it the old-fashioned way with pen-and-well-hidden-book.)
"And then leaving stalkery comments."
That's where I have a problem, but that doesn't lie at the feet of LJ but rather the admin doing it... unless LJ fails to take action against the staffer abusing his/her/its privileges.
-- Steve has experience with admin privileges, and isn't as quick to blame the service as others seem to be given his experience.
I work somewhere that values security. I have plenty of rights in the dev systems, and pretty much none on the production boxes. Even the people that do have access on the production boxes only have that access when they submit requests for access and it's all audited/monitored. They can't just go wandering through customer data when they feel like it.
I'd thought that somewhere on one of the many threads discussing this, someone had already said that there's an audit log for using the "view all" privilege, so that people wouldn't just use it willy-nilly.
