I work somewhere that values security. I have plenty of rights in the dev systems, and pretty much none on the production boxes. Even the people that do have access on the production boxes only have that access when they submit requests for access and it's all audited/monitored. They can't just go wandering through customer data when they feel like it.
I'd thought that somewhere on one of the many threads discussing this, someone had already said that there's an audit log for using the "view all" privilege, so that people wouldn't just use it willy-nilly.
