Google Chrome question

Am I missing something, or is it impossible to change Chrome so that if I type in the top window it opens the link in a new tab? Or to stop it switching to a new tab if the link opens in one?

I thought that Adblock would be the thing that kept me on Firefox - it looks like TabMix Plus is equally important.

aah no mine is painful. 90 seconds just to start it up and all kinds.

chrome is well fast on my machine.

and i have no idea why.

I find the same, which is part of why I've mainly switched to Chrome.

I understand it's often to do with the number of Firefox extensions you have installed, though. I have loads and loads of FF extensions.

I tried all the main browsers - and some well off-chart ones as well - and ended up back with firefox. They are ALL slow! Annoyingly, FF is slower than it used to be on this very same machine. I've cleared up and defragged etc.etc. At least it doesn't seem to lock up any more...

I think FF crashed for me more than Chrome does (on Ubuntu). It was also slightly slower, but not so much that that was the deciding factor..

Pressing Alt+Enter opens whatever you have typed in the omnibar (Google's name, not mine) in a new tab.

Also pressing Ctrl whilst clicking the mouse automatically opens a hyperlink in a new tab.

Ah, nice! I'm just in the habit of pressing Ctrl-T before I do a search or type a site name. But the Alt-Enter trick may be faster - I'll have to try it out :)
