This seems to happen every holiday. We end up going "Ooh, we should play this! And this! And this!" and I spend half each game trying to remember how to play the bloody thing, and just when I've worked out how all of the rules go together Hugh announces that it's game over and he's won.

If it wasn't his birthday...

*Rather fun game with no randomness in it. You're travelling the Tokaido road from Kyoto to Edo, and trying to have as nice a time as possible along the way. It's not a race (and, in fact, the game penalises you for moving too quickly), rather you're trying to collect souvenirs, take in the views, pray at the temples, eat nice food, and most importantly, stop the other players from doing likewise. The only negative is I'm not sure how replayable it is. Good review here.
*In about half an hour. Dad asked for it for his birthday in September, and we're finally getting around to playing it with him. It looks fun from a quick read-through of the rules. Also like it might take a few games to get to grips with.
