Writer's Disease (A Buffy Interlude)

One of the things I've noticed overthe last couple of months is a tendency to, the moment I experience something, start piecing together some ideas about how I'd write it in my journal. I'll come up with opening sentences, turn over different approaches and generally toss ideas back and forth rather than just get on with whatever it is.

Except, that is, when the experience is suitably emotional that it can drag me completely away from any thoughts of myself. Such is the case with The Body, an episode of Season 5 Buffy which is just amazingly well done. The structure, style and skill with which it's put together just blew me away. Unfortunately we've had to pause for a short while as Erin promised to call someone back about some film stuff she's trying to put together. I'm rather nervously looking forward to the second half of the program.

As an aside, I absolutely love the fact that so much of Buffy is available on video over here. I've watched pretty much all of it on video, in my own time, when I had the time and the inclination. It's ruined tv for me. Why, exactly, do I have to schedule my life around tv, when in this modern age it should schedule itself around me?
