As a stay-at-home Southern Californian, I'm predicting that the Icelandic eruption will last for approximately six months, resulting in a failure of the European too-big-to-fail transportation system that will bring down the entire world economy.
And yes, now that you mention it, I _am_ an old & cranky geezer who sometimes revels in pessimism.
I would like them to fix the problem for a totally different reason. Until 2008 I worked at Düsseldorf airport and am still friends with many of my former co-workers. They are currently on extra fully paid holiday for the most part, and I think they should be working and not laughing at me, lol.

Mind you, they'll probably be working double shifts to catch up when the ash clears. And being paid double for that!
Which will be great until the company goes bust. Looks like BA is losing £25m a day.
