It's the apocalypse (nearly)

Reading an articleabout an injectable ID chip, I came across comment from some delightfully loony christians:

Gary Wohlscheid, the president of The Last Day Ministries ( a group espousing the belief that humanity is on the verge of an apocalyptic showdown between the forces of good and evil) believes the VeriChip could be this mark. Although the chip is not yet small enough to be injected into the forehead or right hand at the moment, it could be in the future, he said.

"Out of all the technologies with potential to be the mark of the beast, the VeriChip has got the best possibility right now," he said. "It's definitely not the final product, but it's a step toward it. Within three to four years, people will be required to use it. Those that reject it will be put to death."

*laughs* I know I am showing my age here, but I remember when religious fanatics were saying that about credit cards and bar codes, too... They even put out little pamphlets depicting people with bar code tattoos where no one without one was allowed to buy anything.

As an interesting side note, at a Six Stones meeting recently, we were discussing the idea of making our own parody "religious right" protest pages against our game to be launched the day after publication. *grins* Along with a set of guidelines to help the lemmings know which things about our game they are most likely to find objectionable to save the poor saps the trouble of the research they will not do, anyway. We will probably end up doing it, too. Heh!
