It's cooooold outside

I looked at the centre of the map and thought it looked pretty cold:

And then I looked at the edges, and realised that those temperatures (forecast for Friday night) are in _Farenheit.

Brrrrrr.

(cheers to [livejournal.com profile] sneakingyoda for pointing me at that)

Yes. Very cold. We're at the edge of the unbelievable freezing area, and it feels darn cold to me.

I've had the "It's cold here in Chicago, it's x degrees!" "Yeah, well it's only x+1 in Lodon" conversation with Erik Olson before, but I think we're both wise to the problem, now!

One of those -4's in center of the screen is where I live. Brrr ain't the word.

I'm right under that 39 in the top left corner. Better than most of the country, I guess. But you don't hear me not complaining!

Thank goodness I'm in the far western dark blue band.

Um, ouch?

I'm near a 24, right over there in the sort of bottom part of Texas. 24 degrees here is like the end of the world. The news is all, "DEATHFREEZE 2010! ALL YOUR PETS WILL DIE, EVEN INSIDE. OLD PEOPLE, TOO!"

[identity profile] sttatus-quo.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Brrrrrrr

:: points to the 18 in Texas and the 5 in Oklahoma ::

I'm around in there. The current prediction is 14 (F). I hope the power grid holds.

If you're in the Texas portion, it'll hold. I won't swear to Oklahoma, but Texas is solid.

Crazy Amerkans.

[identity profile] communicator.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
So, what happens, the CO2 precipitates out of the atmosphere as snow and methane lakes form? Brrr

And don't forget that's just the ambient temperature. That '17' where Chicago is, for instance? That doesn't include the wind chill off Lake Michigan, which can bring things down to, oh, -10, -20....

Galoot & I are in that 19 just above New Orleans. Mississippi hasn't had weather like this since... sometime in the 80s, I think. And my step-daughter and her girlfriend have moved here from Florida. (Step-d last year when it was mild for us, gf this year.) Poor dears are dying.
