Flying

If you're planning on flying to the USA, have heard rumours of strange "security" practices being put in place since the attempt a few days ago, and are wondering what the _actual_ rules are, then read this, which is the actual memo sent out by the TSA.

Some of us had booked well in advance with non-refundable tickets and are now wondering what to do.

According the KLM blog things are a lot less restrictive on board now - and there's a time out on the current rules on the 30th anyway...

Still, I really don't like the US in paranoid mode at all, so I'm worried anyway. Last time their paranoid mode got to me so badly I stayed away for nearly 5 years.

Also, due to going via Amsterdam, we're likely to see the one really bad side of the Dutch - their "failed German" mode. Their airport security staff can be really officious and bureaucratic, but they're not very good at doing so efficiently.

I really want to be able to cancel the trip.
