Music round the house

Looking into music streaming systems and I'm feeling quite tempted by the combination of the 1.5TB Linkstation Live as a server and a Philips WAK3300 as the player.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Keep your toothbrush as far as possible from your toilet

Nothing relevant.

Whatever it looks like, don't make it an Apple Airport Express. Ugh.

I've made a couple of forays into UPnP music malarkey, with things like the Roku, and found it mostly a pain in the arse.

First, UPnP interoperability was a bit pants. Perhaps it has got better since I tried it, but I would not assume that two UPnP devices would play nice together unless I knew someone who had tried it.

Second, finding my music via silly up-down-key driven interfaces on remote controls drove me a bit mad.

I stream music around the house over twin-screened cable looped from room to room, but then I am a luddite.

XBOX 360? I have a philips Streamium device gathering dust on a shelf - I used to use it but always found it slightly unreliable and could be affected by what else was going on on your network at the time.

I like the squeezebox, but a) it's way more expensive and b) it needs a server service running on a pc somewhere that's linked in some way to your music.

Works well wirelessly, and being able to build up a playlist in a browser on your pc, then punting it to play on the squeeze is nice.
