I use LJ to read a whole bunch of syndicated feeds (comics and people) - and the syndication system has now been down since the 12th!

Does anyone have any idea what they've done to destroy their RSS reader??

Yup - definitely been dead since the 12th. It seems ridiculous that they can't get it back up and running again!

All anyone knows is that they're 'aware of the problem and investigating it.' I'm in the same boat and getting withdrawal symptoms, I can't face re-syndicating everything right now.

I'm actually weening myself off of LJ RSS (because they're unreliable) and moving over to Google Reader. They're more reliable and with a generally better format for me. You might check it out and see if this is a solution that works for you too.

Google Reader is what I use for all my news feeds - little snippets that I open in other windows.

I use LJ for people and comics, both of which go well with "other people" and comics that are posted on LJ in the first place.

There are so many RSS readers available for Windows/Linux/Mac OS X, and if you don't want your feeds to be machine-specific there are other more reliable RSS services (Google Reader is mentioned elsewhere). LJ has always been buggy, unreliable and often updates feeds later than the message is posted, so I'm at a loss to explain why people still use it as their main source of RSS...

I don't. When it comes to news feeds I use Google Reader. But it's generally worked well enough to read my comics feed here - which I find a lot easier on the eye on than Google Reader, especially when combined with the friends filtering functionality.

I'm on Greader too. But thanks for the heads-up: I think I still have a few legacy feeds piping here, so it might be a good time to check'em. (ED: Nope.)
