"These days the things you can watch together as a family are much fewer so when you get something like Doctor Who or The X Factor it is such a pleasure to sit down as a family."

Anyone who can derive pleasure from the X-Fator scares me :O

Curtis's involvement has inevitably sparked speculation that the "historical figure" in his episode could be Blackadder, played for four series by Rowan Atkinson.

Oh I hope not. Novelty crossovers rarely work and far too frequently just end up making you cringe when they rely on old clichés, ruining both series.

Mind you, if anyone could write Blackadder into Dr Who it would be Curtis but I hope he doesn't try. I'm not a fan of most of his other stuff (never liked rom-com's much, period) but he's a better writer than to rely on a past glory to carry off a new project.

Blackadder Back and Forth was utter dross, yes, but then again it was commissioned for the Millennium Dome so, in context, was probably the best thing there by an order of magnitude :)

For a moment there my brain thought of Adam Curtis. Now that's an epidosde I would have tuned in for.
