Not, I have to say, that I'm sure what you mean by "pretentious". It seems to get bandied around as an alternative to "clever", but I'm not certain that's what you mean.

I certainly didn't think the review was clever, just up it's own arse and making less than a ounce of sense in places.

Whereas to me it was a fantastic piss-take of the kind of pretentious reviews that go waaay beyond my interest level in taking things apart - by taking that approach and applying it to Michael Bay. A sort of mini Sokal affair.

If you find the review pretentious then I imagine you don't watch the movies those sorts of movie reviews are attached to, so no, probably not.
