Photo hosting decisions

Picasa allows you to tag photos online or on the PC and seamlessly synchronise them back and forth.

And it allows you to have "invisible" albums that can be shared through URLs without people having to have accounts - with Flickr people have to have accounts to see hidden photos.

I think that clinches it - I'll be buying some Picasa space for my Dad.

The free stuff is good for initial purposes (1Gb) - see how he gets on with that first?

Wrong about the invisible sharing - that was true for a while, but Flickr's dealt with it with 'Guest Passes for some time now. They seem to work well, though I've not experimented with em myself.

Which is not to say Picasa wasn't the right decision, necessarily - just not for that reason.
