Where's the "Andy has waaaaay too much spare time on his hands: Yes/No" question? :)

Blech

Mo is going to enjoy this poll when she comes home.

I probably would if I'd ever had internet capacity in the bathroom. ;)

no no no no NO NO NO NO NOOOO

[identity profile] holyoutlaw.livejournal.com 2009-05-26 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had a netbook or similarly small computer, all my "Nos" would have been "Yeses". Hah!

The only reason I answered "no" to the first question is that I'm usually a "one-book-at-a-time" reader of printed material, so any reading on, er, "personal time" would consist of whatever literary work is in progress at the time.

You need a button for 'In no circumstances.' Really, sir, one has standards... :-)

Reading while in the smallest room - particularly when it's the only smallest room in the dwelling, and when there are other people in the dwelling who might want to use that room - are reserved a special place in Hell stuck behind all the people who stand on the left on public escalators*

I don't remember specifically having posted to LJ or FB or whatever while on the loo, but that doesn't mean I haven't, necessarily.

My ideal shower would have a water proof touch screen monitor in it linked from a terminal server so I could access the internet, music and tv while I was relaxing in it. Toilet, less of a priority.

[identity profile] a-pawson.livejournal.com 2009-05-26 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm curious. How much time do people generaslly spend in the bathroom (not in the shower etc.) that would necessitate a supply of reading material?

[identity profile] cybik.livejournal.com 2009-05-26 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I would never have a bathroom with books in because I care about my books. Mildew makes sana sad. Toilet would be fine. And yes, I know reading matter doesn't have to be books, but I don't have a huge amount of non-book reading material..

Also, I have dropped my phone into a sink before. It'd be worse if it fell in the loo because then I'd have to bleach it.. Doing the same with a laptop? Nah.

How is anyone taking that long to toilet themselves? it's a thirty second job at most!

So, you're a Twitter shitter?

[identity profile] cartesiandaemon.livejournal.com 2009-05-26 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I often take a book into the bathroom, but it would feel strange to have a collection of reading matter near the toilet (because it would feel irrationally icky) or near the bath (because it would feel like it was going to become damp and shrivelled).

[identity profile] rhythmaning.livejournal.com 2009-05-27 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Was there any discernible differences between genders? I have always assumed reading on the loo was a bit of a bloke thing!

[identity profile] davidcook.livejournal.com 2009-05-28 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for this poll, I now know just who not to lend my books (and/or Internet-capable portable devices) to :-)
(I was a four-"No" person, in case it wasn't obvious ... )

[identity profile] 0olong.livejournal.com 2009-05-31 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
I mostly take my own book into the toilet. I quite miss having a decent supply of reading in there, but there just isn't space for it in my current bathroom - though there are a couple of Dan Browns on a rather hard-to-reach shelf. 'Emergency toilet paper', according to my flatmate.
